30 minutes to the Oscars.  I care more about the New York Rangers game thats on right now than the Oscars, but I also appreciate the overlap:  Assistant Coach Mike Pelino is wearing a wireless mic tonight and one of the pieces that they showed was Mike talking to the booth about the fact that his cousin is up for an Oscar tonight for his sound design on 3:10 to Yuma.  Best of luck to Mike Pelino’s cousin and to Charles Mack, former musical director of CityKids Repertory Company, nominated for his song for August Rush.

Flesh hypocrisy: The world’s first self-proclaimed vegan strip club has opened in Portland, Oregon. Casa Diablo Gentlemen’s Club is owned by Johnny, who says the strippers cannot wear any leather, fur, silk or wool and no animal products are on the menu. One dancer said: “I’ve been a vegan for 3 1/2 years and I can’t stand the thought of working in a place that serves murder victims on a bun.” The club’s website (www.casadiablo.com) explains its philosophy: “Creatures, human and non-human, should be allowed to do whatever they want as long as they don’t step on someone else’s hooves. In this Universe that is virtually impossible but we mean to change all that … eventually.
